It comes with easy-to-follow instructions, but please note that color results may vary depending on the fabric type, amount of dye used, and time spent in the dye bath. Before dyeing, it is recommended to pre-wash your fabric to remove any finishes or stains. For every pound of dry fabric, you'll need half a bottle (3.5 oz) of dye mixed with 3 gallons of water. If you're working with polyester, be sure to double the amount of dye. Using Rit DyeMore is a breeze.
Simply shake the bottle well before using and wear rubber gloves to protect your hands. Heat water to just below boiling (ideally around 200 degrees F or greater) in a stainless steel pot. Add 1 teaspoon of liquid dish detergent and the dye, mixing it well.
Submerge your unfolded wet fabric into the dye bath and stir consistently for 30 minutes to an hour, depending on your desired color intensity. Remember, nylon dyes faster, so keep an eye on your fabric. After dyeing, rinse your fabric in warm water and gradually cool water until the rinse water runs clear. Wash it by hand or in your washing machine with mild detergent and an old towel to prevent dye transfer.
