The Wayne VIP50 1/2 HP Thermoplastic Portable Electric Water Removal Pump is a reliable tool for pumping out large amounts of water in a short amount of time. It is self-priming and can easily run for three or more hours straight with Constant water flow. The pump's inlet and outlet both attach to regular garden hoses. However, it is not suited for pumping potable water because there is no way to sanitise the interior and its lubricants are not food grade. To keep the impeller sealed against the chamber walls, it does need a little oil, which should be poured into the inlet side before using. Although it is noisy and runs hot with a brushed AC motor, it is powerful enough to water as much as needed. The pump works best for light-duty clean water transfer and for removing water from flooded basements.
