The Grizzly G0704 mill/drill is a popular choice for the hobbyist with a lot of positive remarks for precision and affordability. One customer used it for spray bar nozzles and found accuracy to be spot on with a little tweaking. Some users noted rough contact surfaces and the need to remove the dragon grease that it comes with, stone all the contact surfaces and oil everything well to improve the backlash, and tram the head to smooth out the travel on the table. One customer modified the machine by having gears made in steel, which cost them $735, and does not recommend this machine for its cheap plastic gears and moving components. Another customer loves theirs, having milled steel, aluminum, bronze, and cast iron with no problems, but they caution operating it reasonably as it is not as sturdy as a Bridgeport. The mill can be used without the stand, but a clamp kit and vise are sold separately. The mill has an open box with a chip shelf inside and is delivered fully assembled in two pieces secured to a pallet. The company offers the option of an autofeed conversion on their website. A belt drive kit is not included, but users recommend ordering one with the machine.
