Vicks Humidifiers VWM845 Editorial Review
The Vicks VWM845 warm mist humidifier is ideal for people with sinus issues. However, the heating element requires weekly cleaning to remove minerals that adhere to the element after boiling. It has a quiet operation and can steam one gallon of water into the air of a 1,000 sq. ft. room in about 12 hours. It has a green light that indicates that the humidifier is heating up and red light when low on water. It is necessary to restart the unit when the tank is refilled, which is a bit of a ritual. This is unlike the old Vicks 2-gallon humidifier, which retained the humidifier for a longer duration. Its 260 watts of electricity cost $2.70 when run for 10 hours a day over a three-month period. The new version has an inverted heating element that is hard to clean compared to the old version with a heating element in the base, which can be quickly cleaned. The plastic Construction feels flimsy and emits a strong, noxious odor for the first few days of use. The unit conforms to EPA guidelines and is energy star rated. The humidifier has a spot for essential oils and Vicks pads. The seller offered exceptional customer service during the buying process according to one reviewer.
