Electronic Arts Games Editorial Review
**Editorial Review of NBA Live 06** NBA Live 06 for Xbox has generated a mixed reception among players. While it showcases improvements over its predecessor, NBA Live 2005, many fans noted that it still feels quite similar, lacking significant innovation. The introduction of the Superstar Freestyle feature, which highlights players’ unique abilities—like power moves from Shaquille O'Neal and high-flying dunks from Vince Carter—is one of the standout elements, elevating gameplay dynamics for fans craving a personalized basketball experience. Moreover, the game's graphics have received praise for their sharpness and realism, contributing positively to its overall presentation. Control-wise, players find the game easy to grasp, making it accessible for newcomers to the franchise. However, seasoned gamers have raised concerns about the game’s AI, particularly in the rebounding mechanism and the perceived imbalance against computer opponents, resulting in frustrating outbursts during gameplay. Criticism has also touched upon the predictable clutch time scenarios, leading to a lack of authenticity in the competitive spirit of the matches. While commentary from Marv Albert and Steve Kerr adds a layer of enjoyment, many players feel that the game does not reach the heights of its competition, especially given previous installments that offered a richer experience. Some features, like the Franchise mode, have been recognized as strong points, but the unavailability of college player imports from March Madness has also drawn ire. Overall, NBA Live 06 seems to cater mostly to die-hard fans of the series who appreciate its slight evolutions, while newer players might find it a solid, yet unremarkable, entry in the basketball gaming genre. **
