Salton Rice Cookers RC1653 Editorial Review
The Salton Automatic 6 Cup Rice Cooker is a small, black and stainless steel cooker that can cook up to 6 cups of rice. It is a two-part system made in China with a metal base and a non-stick, lightweight metal cooking pot. The rice cooker requires 110-120 volts and uses the ‘keep warm’ function as a default setting. It comes with a measuring cup and a spoon. According to the Q&A, to yield 6 cups of cooked rice, one should add 2 3/4 cups of uncooked rice to the pot. This cooker can be used for wild rice, but it needs a 3 to 1 water to rice ratio, and it requires over 50 minutes of cook time. A replacement measuring cup and any other Salton part can be ordered by contacting the Salton service department. The product reviews are mixed. Some customers find that the rice sticks to the bottom and burns, and that the cooking pot scratches too easily. Others have experienced a malfunctioning lever or find the cooker too small. However, some customers are happy with it, as it cooks rice quickly and easily, with the rice coming out fluffy and perfect every time. It can also be used to cook rice with added ingredients like veggie meat substitutes, Rotel, or salsa, and it is easy to clean up afterward. **
