Walrus Audio Distortion & Overdrive 3851 Editorial Review
### Editorial Review of the Walrus Audio 385 Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal The Walrus Audio 385 Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal, which first launched in 2016, has garnered a loyal following thanks to its unique sound profile and versatile performance. Initially perceived as potentially niche, many customers have found it to be a reliable and authentic low-to-mid gain overdrive pedal that enhances their guitar tone. Striking a balance between clean sounds and gritty overdrive, the pedal has proven to be perfect for genres like blues and classic rock. Users appreciate the pedal's touch-sensitive feel, reminiscent of interacting with a tube amp, creating a warm and dynamic playing experience. The notable "sag" response allows higher gain settings to deliver a smooth compression that enhances tonal flexibility. The active bass and treble controls provide significant tone-shaping capabilities, making the 385 suitable for various playing styles and preferences. While some users had hoped for a quirkier, more lo-fi effect, the versatility it offers keeps the 385 firmly grounded as a staple in many guitarists’ rig. Its range allows for subtle breakup to a full driven tone, proving it serves well as an "always on" pedal. Aesthetically, reviewers noted that the design has some wasted space, yet praised the robust build quality and the user-friendliness of the beveled metal knobs. Overall, the Walrus Audio 385 Overdrive operates beyond just being another drive pedal—it stands out in a crowded market of overdrive options. Many guitarists, including those seeking a unique sound apart from the common tube screamer and Klon clones, endorse this pedal as a valuable addition to their rig. #### Pros and Cons **
