Queen Games Board Games 20102 Editorial Review
** Liguria Strategy Board Game** The Liguria Strategy Board Game offers a unique and engaging experience for both casual and more seasoned gamers. While the game's theme of collecting paint might initially seem underwhelming, players quickly find that the gameplay mechanics are what truly shine. The strategic depth stems from the choice between drawing fewer tiles first or waiting to select later for more options. This mechanic adds significant layers of strategy, as players must also Consider how their choices affect their ship cards, which can drastically influence their final score. Players appreciate the variety of gameplay pathways available, such as upgrading harbors, conquering islands, placing diplomats, and fulfilling contracts to amass end-game points. Although some players noted the mechanics can feel a bit clunky or slow at times, the game is generally well-received for its ability to facilitate engaging interactions and require thoughtful decision-making. On the downside, the game's visual appeal has been critiqued as bland, with sparsely illustrated tiles that don't contribute much to immersion. Furthermore, the rulebook has garnered negative feedback due to its lack of clarity, particularly regarding the functions of "bag" and "anchor" tokens, which has led to some confusion among new players. Despite these drawbacks, many users have praised Liguria as an underrated gem that is easy to learn, making it suitable for players of various skill levels, including families. Its medium weight and relatively quick gameplay (around an hour) add to its appeal, making it a solid choice for game night gatherings. **
